Episode 42, “Language Shapes Reality”

-Andrew discusses how language shapes reality. He uses the word "neoliberalism" as his example, and explains the difference between the classic definition and the new, more modern definition. Andrew then explains his definition of neoliberalism, and he plays clips to help illustrate his point.

Show Notes:

When I was in college, one of my professors discussed the term, “neoliberalism” at length. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the term. That is until, I heard the Bush/Cheney administration and others at the time use the term in a completely different way. Upon further research into this “double meaning,” I discovered that it is well documented how the term “neoliberalism” has multiple meanings, depending on the entity using the term. With that being said, you would think that defining this term would be very important for the media to do if they really wanted you to “understand” and “be informed.” Enjoy the show!
